* The short-term rental ordinance went into effect on November 3rd, 2023. Please consult with the city planner to obtain a new short term rental license to discuss requirements, processes and any availability.
* Annual short term rental fees are $400 and accompany an annual $20 privilege/business license. Both are valid from September 30 to September 30 each year the property is being used as a short-term rental property. Late fees are applied when delinquent or a short-term rental privilege will be revoked if permit is not maintained as active. Legal proceedings will also occur if a short-term rental property is active and not currently licensed.
* The City of Pass Christian has adopted the 2024 International Residential Code (IRC) and International Building Codes (IBC), along with other applicable codes. Refer to http://www.iccsafe.org for applicable codes.
*Please check with staff for the type of building permit you may need. Email all building permit concerns and issues to codes@pass-christian.ms.gov
*Inspections may be called in the day before and no same day or weekend inspections. No work typically can occur on weekends, so check with staff for exceptions. Permit plans and applications can be dropped from 8am-5pm, permits and applications can only be issued until 3:30 pm.
*Silt fencing and proper dirt retention to prevent dirt and debris from going into roadway and storm drains is required on job sites by temporary power stage. Failure to comply will result in no inspections until a property is compliance, possible re-inspection fees and possible citations. Proper construction site maintenance is also required, and this includes portable toilets that are staked down and maintained and dumpsters with lids and/or maintained so not be overflowing with discarded building materials. Job sites are also required to maintain a clean job site throughout the construction process.

*If you clear or clean a vacant lot, your hired contractor is responsible for disposing of all debris. Household roadside bulk debris must be in piles no larger than 3’x3′ and will be placed up by Pelican Waste on Mondays. Make sure to obtain a Lot Clearing Permit as needed.
*For burn permits, please check with the fire department for their requirements prior to coming to the Code Office to submit payment.

*Board of Aldermen meetings are generally held the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6 P.M. in the courtroom of the City Hall complex.
*The Park Committee meetings are generally held the second Tuesday of each month at 4:30 P.M. in the courtroom of the City Hall complex.
*Historic Preservation meetings are generally held the second Wednesday of each month at 6 P.M in the courtroom of the City Hall complex. All applications must be turned into the Code Office at City Hall 14 days before the meeting and the appropriate application fee of $54 paid prior to the meeting appearance.
*Tree Board meetings are generally held the third Thursday of each month at 10 A.M. in the courtroom of the City Hall complex. All applications must be turned into the Code office and work with the City Arborist to determine if a meeting appearance is needed and applications need to be received 14 days prior to the meeting for consideration to be placed on the Tree Board agenda.
*Planning Commission meetings are generally held the last Tuesday of each month at 4 P.M. in the courtroom of the City Hall complex. Please see Planning Staff to work through the specific Planning and Zoning applications.

Food Trucks
Only 5 food trucks are allowed to operate within City limits. Permits are on a first come, first served basis and are valid from September 30 to September 30. An annual business and privilege license is also required. Food Truck permits are $250 annually and a business/privilege license is a $200 annual fee. To obtain availability more information, or apply for a food truck permit and license, please come to city hall and speak with the city planner.
